CreditPool photo by Philippe Lopez Congratulations to the people of France for their successful election!!!! Togetherness and cooperation will bring peace and harmony. Within the lifetime of many still living today, Europe was engaged in a World War that destroyed many lives and the existing culture and property of most countries including France. Great Britain was under assault from Germany, and survived with help from the United States and other democracies beyond the borders of Europe. The new Europe, born from the ashes of this despair has offered hope and inclusion for a broadening coalition of democratic states. However this inclusive unity is today threatened by a rebirth of nationalism and anti-immigrant fervor. Regrettably Britain has subcommand to the fear mongering of the right, turning their back on Europe. I congratulate the French people for a resounding rejection of this right wing ideology, and for leading the way to a more peaceful and rewarding future for all of Europe, and the rest of the world. Everyone told us it was impossible, but they don't know France." • But he repeated a number of times that the task facing him and the country was enormous. • He said: "We have the strength, the energy and the will - and we will not give in to fear."
